Idea #5

A plan to film or videotape theatrical productions that would otherwise be lost

Each year there are hundreds of professional theatrical productions in the US. In addition to Broadway and off-Broadway in New York, many other cities have high quality productions.

Some of these productions are preserved on film or videotape, and are presented in venues like PBS. On rare occasions, a film of a play may be shown in movie theaters. "Rent" is an example.

However, many productions are simply lost.

My plan is to develop a low-cost way to film or videotape theatrical productions that merit preservation and that may have commercial value as a filmed or videotaped product. Ballet and other dance productions may be filmed or taped as well.

The productions could be licensed to PBS and to various cable channels. In addition, they could be rented or sold through outlets like Netflix or iTunes.
